The sixth Annual Snow Champs Chomp (SCC) will be held on Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 at Algoma’s Water Tower Inn & Suites. This successful event celebrates hundreds of local winter athletes pursuing excellence in snowboarding, freestyle skiing, alpine ski racing and cross country skiing.
Click here to view the poster with further details.
SCC has become a major, sold-out fundraiser for the three non-profit clubs involved. Made possible through the generous sponsorship of J.J. Hilsinger of Algoma’s Water Tower Inn as well as many businesses and individuals who donate products or services for auction, this event will support winter athletes as follows:
Searchmont & Area Freestyle Alliance (SAFA) is in the process of organizing a competitive freestyle ski/snowboard team. Money raised will be used to fund long-term athlete development through programming, coaches and officials training, and event prizing. –Carole Stubinsky
Volunteers of the Searchmont Ski Runners (SSR) raise money annually to maintain an inventory of course and safety equipment for athlete training and racing. Mandated through Alpine Canada and Alpine Ontario, SSR must continually meet stringent equipment standards, in particular for Regional and Provincial events held each season at Searchmont. –Lisa Brechin
Fundraising will be used for work required on our trail system in order to bring it up to race standards. This will allow us to host Provincial and National races. Some fundraising is also used to support Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club athletes who qualify to compete nationally. – Lora Kinnunen
Our Cheer for a Year Winners are:
1st Prize: Sylvia Pearson, SSMarie
2nd Prize: George Burritt, SSMarie
3rd Prize: Joerg Kreps, SSMarie
4th Prize: Sharon Valente, SSMarie
Congratulations to all!
